«Neptune XXI century» magazine unfailingly pursues its activity in the field of undersea archeology. Thus, in August of 2006 the research team of our magazine comprising of camera-men and assisting them divers performed series of dives on the wreck of the screw drived sailer – frigate «Oleg», sunken in 1869 nearby the Gogland island. The main task of this expedition was to make photo-shooting of the wreck, resting on the 60 meters depth of the Baltic sea.
In the previous issue we told you about the sensational finding made by the divers from Moscow and Kiev. Near Balaklava on the famous sailing vessel they discovered a very well preserved ship’s bell. After cleaning it from epibioses, the name of the sailing vessel became clear – Agnes Blaikie. They succeeded in finding out that the discovered vessel, a bark of about 380 tons displacement, was built in 1841. Other information about it has been lost in the dust of the time bygone.
