Haar specialiteit is macrofotografie. |
The Oosterschelde estuary in Zeeland (the Netherlands) is the place where Udo spends most of his time underwater. With a good eye for detail, composition and color he always tries to make photographs which breathe the same atmosphere as if you were underwater. From May 1st until July 15th 2006 he had his first exhibition in the Botanical Garden of the Delft University of Technology named: Duik eens in 'Die Zeeuwse groene soep’ (dive in the green soup of Zeeland), that showed the marine life of the Dutch Estuaries that nobody expects over there. Udo’s work was also published in several magazines and newspapers: just after the opening of this exhibition the second largest newspaper of the Netherlands used his photos for a two page article and a front cover about the Dutch marine life: 650.000 copies were spread through the country. Since 2005 he participated in several underwater photography contests where he regularly won prizes. Besides the Dutch coastal areas Udo also dived in many other places: Brittany (F), the Cote d’ Azur (F), Red Sea (Egypt), Caribbean Sea (Mexico and Bonaire), Basque Country (ES), Galicia (ES), Lanzarote (ES) and in Portugal near Sesimbra and the Berlengas National Park and more recently in Indonesia (Wakatobi), Ireland, Cornwall (UK), Esperance (West Australia), Cocos (Keeling) Islands, Christmas Island, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Ireland (donegal), Bali, Komodo and the Antarctic Peninsula. These trips made it possible for him to master himself in wide-angle-... |
Karin was born in The Netherlands in 1972. Her brother persuaded her to join him on a divecourse in 1997. Like she once said “I’ll never go diving” she also said “I’ll never start with underwaterphotography, much to difficult for me”…. After a while diving turned out to be the most passionate leisure interests she’d ever experienced. After discovering the beauty of the marine life, the step towards underwater photography was easily taken. She simply felt the urge showing the rest of the world the flora and fauna she met on her diving trips, abroad and in her home country, The Netherlands. In 2003 Karin took a camera with her on one of her dives for the first time. Now, a few years later her work is regularly published in many divemagazines all over the world (Duikmagazine, Unterwasser, Asian Diver, Dive New Zealand, Scuba Diver Magazine, Wielki Blekit, etc.). As one can conclude Karin developed herself from amateur to a professional photographer with a great talent for composition and an everlasting persistence for taking the perfect picture. Her enthusiasm, style and talent did not stay unremarked in The Netherlands. Dos Winkel, the famous Dutch underwater photographer, adopted her as his protégé. After a while Karin wanted to spend more time under water and searched for new challenges. This ended up in a new part of her work: fashionphotography under water. Once, an article stated that Karins enthusiasm is her power. Karin says that underwater photography just brings her a lot of fun. |
Marion Haarsma is a dedicated diver and she always dives with a camera. She started diving in Bonaire, where she visited an old school friend. Soon she got bored and started a diving course. Her teacher was the famous Ibo. She told him she needed a lot of weight. He had to get 3 times out of the water to get enough weight… Then they went to 18 meters on the first dive. By that time she was totally hooked! That same holiday she started by being a model for underwater photographers. But within 2 years, on a holiday in the Maldives, she began filming with super-8 camera. To improve the editing she became a member of a film club in her hometown, the HAF. The film club asked her members to enter movies in the amateur competitions. To her great surprise ended her films in the highest regions on a national level. So this gave her the courage to enter the Nelos festival in Belgium and later to the English festival in Brighton with a movie about the toads; The Sweet Waterlife. There she won the biggest prize ever given in Europe, the Umel trophy in 1986 together with a Sony video camera, housing, recorder, light and charger with a total value of 10.000 guilders. Famous people had won this prestigious prize before, like Peter Scoones. Never was she so proud… Later she won a Nikonos-V with a fil m about Ireland (Ierland, mijn eiland), in the Dutch Spondyle festival. This initiated the switch to still photography. For many years she went with 2 sets of cameras under water, still faithful to the filming… But with the rising of the digital filming she changed permanently to still photography. She said: to make a movie is a lot of work and people will only look at it once. A picture you can use for a multitude of applications like a placemat, a mouse pad, to put... |
For Perry nature photography is a hobby that gives him a lot of joy. He likes getting up early to enjoy the early morning light and to be "out there" when other people are still sleeping. It is also a good excuse to travel to beautiful and remote places in Southern Africa and Alaska. The spectacular scenery and the wildlife keeps bringing him back to Alaska. He can still vividly remember the excitement he felt when he saw his first wolf in the wild. A dream came true when he won a permit for the McNeil River State Game Sanctuary. It's very special to be surrounded by brown bears and to see them catching salmon. One day he hopes to see and photograph a wolverine. He lives and works near Rotterdam and that is also where he does most of his photography in the Netherlands. Although his main interest is mammals and birds he also likes landscape and macro photography. |

Award winning photo journalist Andre Crone started diving when he was 24 years old. He bought his first underwater camera as soon as he got his first diving license. He started his production company Elysia Productions four years ago together with his wife Eveline. This combination proved to be successful. Andre creates the images and Eveline writes the articles that are published in many of the big diving magazines all over the world. Andre's images have been published in Fathoms Magazine, Unterwasser and BBC Wildlife Magazine just to name a few. He has a slight preference for cold water diving. Just because he believes pictures made in cold waters are more special and more bizarre. You can see this in his productions about Antarctica, Svalbard and Tasmania. But, as most photo journalists he will not hesitate to travel to the tropics to produce his articles. Andre won Celebrate the Sea in the wide angle prints category and was second in the prints portfolio category in the same contest. He has also won prices on other contests in many countries. You can find more about Andre Crone and his photography here on this website or on his personal home page at www.elysia.nl. |
