Theme: Countdown 2010 – Biodiversity
Naturefriends International (NFI) and its member federations actively champion the conservation of bio- diversity and of intact ecosystems as a basic prerequisite of sustainable development.

Naturefriends‘ efforts to offer people a live experience of biological diversity constitutes a major contribution to the international “Countdown 2010” initiative. In compliance with the UN Biodiversity Convention, this intiative seeks to markedly reduce the biodiversity loss by 2010 – the Interna- tional Year of Biodiversity.

For the 17th time the Gesellschaft Deutscher Tierfotografen - GDT will open the International Nature Photography Festival in Lünen for wildlife photographers and visitors from all over the world. An exquisite series of lectures by national and international animal and wildlife photographers presenting the central idea of nature conservation in all its aspects awaits visitors at Europe’s most renowned festival of this kind.

The 36th World festival of Underwater Pictures will take place from October 29th to November 1st 2009 in Marseille - France (Palais du Pharo).

In this prestigious place, located at the entrance of the “Vieux-Port”, there is a 1,800 m2 space for exhibition and 3 rooms for the showing of films and photographs in competition.
Deeply rooted in the history of diving, with an extraordinary submarine heritage, the city of Marseille is a legitimate reception place for the Festival.
